Determining the best hair care routine for your hair is something that may seem like a daunting task. NG Salon and Tonsorial will guide you through the process of how to research and find your best hair care routine for your mane.

There are a few steps you will need to take in order to determine the absolute best hair care routine first you should determine your hair type, next find your hair needs, from there develop a routine based on what your hair needs.

Determine Your Hair Type

The first step in determining what your hair care routine needs to be you will need to hone in on what your hair type is. There are several different types of hair. But don’t worry, it’s really not hard to determine which you have!

Type 1 – Straight Hair: Straight hair is, well naturally just straight. This hair carries no hairstyle easily, doesn’t hold curls extremely well and has little volume. Straight hair does come with a beautiful shine because of the oils that are held in it. Straight hair could use some serious volume! Try dry shampoo to ramp it up!

Fine: Straight hair is then and carries excess oil easier.

Thicker: Hair has some volume, potential for oils.

Thickest: Coarse texture, thick hair that is unable to hold curls.

Type 2 – Wavy Hair: Wavy hair tends to make an S down the shaft. There are multiple types of wavy hair. Wavy hair is more prone to frizzy hair than type 1, straight hair. This hair is tricky! Fine hair will need a nice leave-in conditioner, while thick wavy hair will need oil!

Fine: Has has the S shape and no frizz.

Thicker: Hair has the S shape with more volume and more frizz

Thickest: Hair has the S shape with volume and potential frizz.

Type 3 – Curly Hair: Curly hair is hair that looks like a curling iron was used, but it wasn’t, it’s natural! These men or women use water and maybe a little product to get their hair in ringlets! Unfortunately, when curly hair is pulled into tight ponytails it is prone to breakage. Organic oil is a great way to tame frizz in curly hair.

Fine: This hair has long, loose curls and is prone to frizz.

Thicker: Thicker curly hair is prone to more frizz, and has springy tight curls.

Thickest: This hair is the curliest and thickest and is prone to the most frizz.

Type 4 – Coiled Hair: This hair type is the coarsest and thickest of all hair types mentioned. Because of the amount of hair, this hair type is prone to dryness. Nice moisturizing shampoo and conditioner can combat this! Just the opposite of straight hair! Is it beginning to make sense?

Fine: These coils are tight and have volume. Prone to dryness.

Thicker: Z coils that are tight, springy, with volume. Very thick hair with potential frizz!

Thickest: Tight, coarse, springy, thick curls!
